NICOLE FRESLE

BA( PSYCHOLOGY/ CHILDREN AND FAMILY STUDIES);
BA HONS. (PSYCHOLOGY); MA (CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY); MAPS.

My qualifications include a Masters in Clinical Psychology, first class honours in Psychology, and a double major in Psychology and Children and Family Studies.

I am experienced in delivering clinic and community based psychological services for children of all ages, adolescents, families and adults. I use individualised evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, schema therapy, mindfulness, trauma-focused therapy and play therapy. I have a particular interest in working with children and parents and adopt a friendly, engaging and non-judgemental yet professional approach to therapy. As a mother to three children, I have first hand experience of the difficulties associated with raising a young family through to adolescents.

My specialty is educational testing using assessments for children such as WISC-IV and the WPPSI-IV as I feel strongly about children reaching their full potential. In addition, I have experience with developing and facilitating child social skills groups through my work with the Aussie Optimism Program at Curtin University.

Previously I worked with children on the autism spectrum as a Behavioural Therapist and have perinatal and infant mental health experience with mothers experiencing Postnatal Depresssion at the Red Cross. I have also worked at the ECU Child Health Promotion Research Centre.

I have experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, phobias, stress, trauma and parenting problems. Specifically, I have worked with children and parents on issues such as Panic, Anxiety, Social Phobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Asperger's, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

Whilst at the Sexual Assault Resource Centre, I gained experience in the impact of sexual abuse, trauma and risk assessment, exposure therapy, and counselling of parents. Lastly, I have worked with adult clients at Osborne Clinic on mental health issues including Agorophobia, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Binge Eating and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

My strengths involve building rapport with clients and easing concerns about attending therapy.
